General Information
At the beginning of each year New World Youth Orchestras holds an annual retreat. This retreat is required for all members and runs longer than a typical rehearsal.

When and Where
The retreat is generally held on a Sunday in mid- to late-August, often at Butler University, though this is subject to change.

An hour will be given for members of each orchestra to check in prior to the times listed below. Approximate times for each orchestra are as noted below, though they are subject to change:
    Symphony Orchestra    10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
    Philharmonic Orchestra    10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    Concert Orchestra     3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

What to Expect
Either lunch or dinner is included in the retreat fee. Usually deli subs are provided for lunch and pizza for dinner with a vegetarian option available at each meal.

Each orchestra will have both full rehearsals and sectionals with breaks throughout the day at the discretion of the conductor

Bring your pencil, music, instrument, folding stand and any other supplies you might need (i.e. rock stops, rosin, spare strings, etc.)

There will be parent meetings for each orchestra where calendars and other forms and information will be handed out.  Come and get your questions answered.  This meeting is for both new and returning parents!

Why do we have the retreat?
The retreat offers each orchestra a chance to kick off the season and welcome back young musicians. You will get to see old friends and make new friends, but there will also be intense rehearsal time. The retreat is an important start to the season and is required for all members.
